Wow, sunsets in Santa Cruz in October can be absolutely amazing. I had a fun shoot at Natural Bridges the other day. It was an amazingly low tide, REALLY!!!, we could walk through the natural bridge. You can't do that everyday!

This shoot was all about the top dog. He was small in stature , but big in personality. In the studio he was full of spunk and ready to rumble. Once we got to the beach, he was a bit intimidated by the surf, but he stood tall and proud to let us know he was the (small) boss.

I LOVE the San Juan Batista Mission. Such a beautiful place to get married, and what a fun place for wedding photography. The reception was held at the beautiful San Juan Oaks Golf Club. It was a great party and the live band was " The Money Band " which kept everyone dancing for hours.

Newborn babies can be such a treasure to photograph, but you must have patience, lots of patience but the payoff is the capture of those amazing images that show a mother and father's love for their new bundle of joy. Little Gemma is a total gem at 10 days old. This was her first professional photo shoot, and she pulled it off like a pro. This couple got married on 1/1/11 on one of those gorgeous Hawaiian islands. It was a very heart felt ceremony recorded on video. They came back to the mainland for their reception. They celebrated with friends and family from all over the US at the Hayes Mansion in San Jose. Without a doubt, the highlight of the evening was the Skype call with the bride’s brother from his firebase in Iraq.

I was thrilled that little Brandon wished to get photograph on his dad's black Harley Davidson Motorcycle. I figured this had to be a theme that would be repeated for years to come. I was even more thrilled to find out the Harley actually fit though the front door of my studio. Just way to cool!

The Wedding took place at Kennolyn located in the Santa Cruz / Soquel mountains. This was a fun shoot. Ben and Ivy came over from Hong Kong, and we planned a day long shoot from Palo Alto, through Half Moon Bay, and into San Francisco. We were thrilled to get the chance to photograph this couple for their 70th(!) weddinganniversary. Yes, they were married in 1940, when photography was anything but digital. Budmserved in the Navy and had a long career with the Post Office, and Ann was a teacher. They are both fond of hats, and have an extensive collection. We took advantage of a low tide to take this Watsonville couple to this arch which is usually blocked by high water. Even so, a rogue set did manage to get us a little wet. We were lucky to get a sunny day, as the previous day the fog sucked in all day long. Such is summer in Santa Cruz.

We did our first combined family/maternity with this couple from San Jose. Tiffany’s Hawaiian beauty seemed to transform Santa Cruz into a tropical paradise. The only thing we were missing was a warm breeze. The boys were shy at first, but really came alive when they got to climb some rocks. At least that kept them out of the water!

Here are just a few images taken at my week down in San Diego. It was great fun experimenting with light. I met lots of fellow photographers and had time to create some beautiful portraits. My weeks class was with Scott Robert Lim. He was inspiring and refreshing.
